Most of the staff have been with us for years and welcome regular visitors as old friends. Guests may enjoy two ground-floor parlours decorated with museum-quality treasures, including memorabilia from the Cretan revolution and a remarkable collection of hats from around the world.
Refreshments are served here throughout the day and free wireless internet is available. Guests may prefer to relax in wicker armchairs in the shaded atrium overlooking the peaceful garden, which features a marble fountain. Outdoor seating hidden among the foliage offers cool respite from the midday sun.
Breakfast is served in the third-floor dining room, decorated with a splendid collection of 19th century engravings, farming tools, and family photographs. A wall of windows opens onto the dazzling sweep of the bay and the sea breeze.
The buffet breakfast offers an array of local and seasonal produce, including dried and fresh fruits, cereals, nuts, and honey, traditional rusks, sesame and aniseed cookies, and home-made orange, quince or rose preserves served with yoghurt. Eggs are also cooked to order. Freshly squeezed orange juice and a pot of tea or coffee with a beaker of warm milk is brought to every table, lovingly set with embossed crockery and embroidered linens.
